Blue Products

You know how Presidents Choice has developed their line of blue products? Well, our local E-Mart store has recently developed their own line of blue products. (Their packaging looks remarkably like that of PC’s I wonder if there’s any connection… why blue?!) Their Smart Eating products include bread, juice, coffee, ramen noodles, crackers, granola bars, and chips…. I’m sure there are other things that I have yet to discover too!

Though Jeff has always stated that he hates ramen (pronounced ray-mee-yeon here) noodles, he’s developed a love of the food, and requests them at least once a week! (I love them too… mmm… kim chi flavoured ramen is SOO good!)

Incidently there are no Smart Eating products in the frozen food section of the grocery store. We’ve found that most of the frozen food is mandu (basically a dumpling) and some ice cream. It’s interesting, in Canada there is SO much variety in the frozen food section, you could manage eating frozen food every night of the week and not get bored of the variety. In Korea, there is virtually no frozen food. Although there are times when it would be nice to just pick up something quick, it’s really nice to be forced to cook fresh food. I usually cooked meals from scratch at home too, but I at least had the option of throwing in a PC lasagna if I was tired and pressed for time. These days, if we’re tired and pressed for time we hop out to the local Kim Bap Chon Guk place for dinner. We can eat a variety of Korean food there for really cheap – like $3 each.

I’m interested to see what we’ll encounter when we reach Mongolia… every country provides different food challenges and adventures!

(For those non-Canadians out there PC is a generic store brand that has done really well. They offer all types of prepared food and it is GOOD. I know many Americans who stock up before they go back home because PC products are sadly not available in the US… yet!)
